Wilde once wrote: Only the true masters of style have always succeeded
in being obscure.
For as
long as I can remember I have longed for my name to be in neon lights.
I
traveled thousands of miles across the ocean to finally make my home in
London. I first left Brazil In the summer of 1993 to try my luck
in the sin city of Amsterdam, where I'd landed a job as a shop assistant
at the now infamous Trancedome shop. The sparkle of the Dutch sin city
was soon outshone by the glaring lights of London. My early days
in this fantastic city were the most exciting and adventurous times of
my life’s journey so far.
I
finally was able to express myself creatively and sexually in a manner I
never believed possible.
It was
just so thrilling and liberating to finally be able to live all the
stories I'd secretly scripted for myself. I've fulfilled every sexual
and intellectual fantasy I ever imagined possible. I've dined with
kings, slept with tramps and drunk incessantly from the cup full of the
seven capital sins.
Not
only was I experiencing a life long dream of living in London but I was
also working on the club scene (Ministry of Sound, Aquarium) as a dancer
and I coming face to face with my childhood heroes: Boy George and Jean
Paul Gaultier to name a few).
In the
bitterly cold winter of 1994 I met my ex partner (in fetish, fashion,
crime and love) Simon Rose who introduced me to rubber and has taught me
everything I know
about the alluring fetish world and the surreal, captivating and
addictive realm of latex dreams.
From
very early on in my life I knew that I wanted to be a costume designer
and performer. There were nights back in Brazil where I used to
dream under the moonlight of Gone with the Wind, the King and I,
Dracula, all my heroines in their finest hour. Most of my life I
wanted to be a global superstar so it's no surprise that my work is
influenced by mainstream culture in general.
I am an
ardent fan of pop music. I grew up when Culture Club were masters of the
radio waves and “The Church Of The Poison Mind” used to rock my
childhood dreams, of one day making it big somewhere in the world.
I remember the very first time I saw Madonna singing Borderline on a
black and white television. It was love at first sight.
From
that moment on I knew I also could be somebody.
I love
Frida Kahlo with all my heart and I can sometimes be found in full Kahlo
regalia in some trendy part of town or other.
My
favourite designers are Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Coco
Chanel, Viktor and Rolf, Vivienne Westwood, bla bla bla.
If
watching four films a week makes me a movie addict then I am and must
shamelessly confess I am an avid cinema fan.
In 1999
I did a foundation course in fashion design at The Westminster College.
In 2000/2001 I did a Two Year National Diploma in Costume Design for
Film and Theatre at the Kingsway College.
Today I
work with Simon Rose for Libidex, one of coolest and certainly the most
innovative latex labels on the planet. Working with Libidex has
broadened my horizons far beyond belief. As the restless soul that I am
I've experimented with many different techniques and now can proudly
claim that the exclusive appliqué that enables me to print in full
colour on latex is how Bordello was born
I know
there is room in the fetish Market for innovative and well-designed
costumes and here to fill it.
I am
also a dancer, performer ( Heaven, TG,) model, and wannabe DJ.
I am an
excellent cook, a loyal friend, an imaginative lover and very open
minded designer. |
